Affiliate Disclosure & Editorial Integrity Statement

How Camp Iceland is funded, which partner programs we participate in, and how we keep our Iceland travel advice objective and accurate.

Summary in Plain English

Camp Iceland (campiceland.is) is an independent travel guide and does not operate a direct vehicle or equipment rental fleet. When you click links to booking partners on our site and complete a reservation, we may receive an affiliate commission with no extra charge from us.

1. How Provider Recommendations Work on Camp Iceland

We disclose in our guides and site footer that Camp Iceland participates in commercial programs with established travel providers. When you visit one of our recommended providers, a browser cookie may attribute your reservation to Camp Iceland.

  • No fee from us: Camp Iceland does not add any booking surcharge. Prices, insurance options, and rental terms are set directly by the provider.
  • No direct checkout on Camp Iceland: All reservations, payments, insurance selections, and customer support are handled directly by the respective booking platform or rental operator.
  • Editorial independence: We recommend vehicles, campsites, and guided tours based on seasonal Icelandic road and weather realities.

2. Providers We Work With

We work with established Iceland travel operators and networks so visitors can compare local specialist fleets alongside multi-supplier marketplaces:

  • Go Rentals Iceland Group (Go Car Rental & Go Campers): Includes Go Car Rental Iceland (2WD compact cars, F-road-approved 4x4 SUVs, passenger vans, and electric vehicles) and Go Campers Iceland (Webasto-heated 2WD and 4x4 campervans) with Keflavík Airport (KEF) and Reykjavík service.
  • Guide to Iceland: Iceland travel marketplace for comparing rental cars, campervans, glacier hikes, ice caves, whale watching, and Northern Lights tours across local operators.
  • Travelpayouts: Travel network supporting accommodation, transport, and activity comparisons.

3. Strict Editorial Standards

Our editorial recommendations are governed by four strict rules:

  1. Safety First: Official public safety resources—such as the Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration (road.is), the Icelandic Met Office (vedur.is), SafeTravel.is, and the Environment Agency of Iceland (ust.is)—are linked prominently without monetization.
  2. No Fake Discounts or Fabricated Quotes: We never invent fake promo codes or present static numbers as live pricing. Our Budget Calculator clearly labels all figures as planning estimates.
  3. Honest Pros & Cons: Every vehicle category and travel style has trade-offs (for example, why 2WD campervans are prohibited on F-roads and why tent camping requires 4-season aluminum poles). We state these limitations upfront.
  4. Regular Seasonal Audits: Core guides are reviewed prior to summer and winter seasons to ensure road rules, camping laws, and provider details remain accurate.
